Discovered on a building site in 1980, the vestiges of the Roman baths testify to the power of a city which then extended over a hundred or so hectares. The baths were an important centre of social life for citizens, combining relaxation and culture, and were used for 200 years. In 270, they were razed to the ground to make way for the wall.
The technical area of the baths can now be seen in an archaeological crypt, under the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, on the avenue de Rostov sur le Don. A video animation shows the heating and water management installations. .
